What are we looking for?

Techex is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our fast-growing and energetic organisation, to work alongside a team of technology and subject matter experts, to own and evolve our critical business infrastructure. We are looking for someone who is as passionate about technology as we are, who embraces challenges and new ways of working and new technologies. We are looking for someone who wants to grow and develop their skills and knowledge and play a pivotal part in the development of our company through our underpinning infrastructure. Our ideal candidate would be interested in a diverse role with opportunities to lead and create strategic initiatives, to be instrumental in building and deploying infrastructure, and ensuring our users can access and use the tools required to execute their roles and provide friendly and hands-on support.

This is a hybrid role based at our Bracknell offices for a minimum of 3 days a week, we can offer flexibility around working patterns for the right applicant.



Reporting to our CFO and working closely with our Technical Director you will:

Lead our internal infrastructure strategy Own, manage and evolve our network, firewalls, and VPN. Maintain and evolve our on-premises virtualisation stack: VMWare ESX, Proxmox. Manage access to SharePoint. Own and develop our demonstration and testing technical "Lab" infrastructure. Select, procure and setup, deploy, maintain, and ensure accurate inventory of business infrastructure including laptops, mobiles, print and AV and VOIP. Own and maintain our global business compute infrastructure and software on prem and in cloud. Undertake regular auditing and testing of software, networks, and hardware to ensure functionality, compliance, and security. Be the technical point of contact for our growing organisation providing internal support troubleshooting software and hardware problems that arise. Implement a robust maintenance and infrastructure refresh program to prevent systems outages and failures. Deliver essential new starter infrastructure user training. help protect our organisation by conducting regular risk assessments Be a part of the team directly assisting our customers by and assisting with the technical arrangements for external events and shows. Ensure continuous IT improvement leveraging best practice and new technologies as they emerge to improve efficiency, security, and usability. Secure our organisation through effective building access control management, staff pass management and auditing. Help enable our organisation to grow and scale by actioning all employee related IT responsibilities such as account creation and employee lifecycle management Mith Microsoft Azure AD/Entra and Intune. Help our company to continue to maintain and achieve the highest standards in information security through implementing Cyber Essentials Plus standards and ISO27001.

What you will need:



Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience / certification in relevant IT Systems administration/engineering

Essential

Passionate about technology and solving problems Compute virtualisation management & administration (either VMWare ESX, Proxmox, HyperV, Kubernetes) Backup, Disaster Recovery, and business continuity experience Experience with Active Directory/Entra systems, as well as user management and group policies. Demonstrable experience of Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online and SharePoint Online. Demonstrable experience of maintaining computer systems; either security, network and systems administration, data storage systems, or telecommunications systems. Experience troubleshooting systems and user issues and managing support queries through to resolution. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable

Azure AD and migration experience Network management experience including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IGMP and VLANs. Firewall management (Cisco ASA and Firepower). VPN management (user and site to site). K3 or K8 experience Prior experience with backup solutions disaster recovery Demonstrable experience of implementing ISO and Cyber Essentials standards would be desirable. Database administration; MySQL, MSSQL, Influx. Ensure all software and hardware is up to date in line with Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001. Proficient Linux server administration experience. AWS Practitioner
