Senior Systems Engineer

York, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Role Introduction:

Our IT Managed Services business enables customers to innovate, transform, and seize new opportunities. The Technical Operations function underpins this mission by delivering enterprise-grade, 24x7x365 technical support to mid-market clients across both public and private sectors.

We operate a shared services model aligned with ITIL v4, underpinned by ServiceNow, automation, and generative AI. Our 24x7 Operations squads support the health and performance of Microsoft Modern Workplace environments, ensuring proactive management, preventative maintenance, and operational excellence.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide third-line expertise in Microsoft Endpoint Manager technologies, delivering proactive support, driving continual improvement, and acting as a technical escalation point. You will work across customer environments, supporting compliance, automation, and standardisation initiatives. This is a shift-based role within our 24x7 operational squad structure, suitable for a technically confident engineer with a passion for Modern Workplace services and a proactive, mentoring-led approach.
What You Will Do:
Support, maintain, and implement Microsoft Endpoint Manager-based solutions. Lead troubleshooting for complex Modern Desktop incidents, taking ownership of investigations and coordinating resolution. Mentor and guide junior engineers in the squad, sharing expertise and reviewing escalations. Deliver automation initiatives using PowerShell to improve repeatability and reduce manual effort. Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and relevant security standards (e.g. CIS, CE+). Create and maintain structured technical documentation, aligned to security and operational standards. Package and deploy applications using Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager (SCCM). Participate in customer meetings when required, such as change advisory boards or technical reviews. Contribute to knowledge sharing through ServiceNow KB articles and team documentation.

What You Will Have:
Demonstrable experience supporting Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune, SCCM) in enterprise settings. Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD), with ability to design and support workplace services. Knowledge of Windows OS management, application deployment, and compliance policies. Experience authoring infrastructure, support, and procedural documentation. Strong mentoring capability and willingness to support the development of others. Experience delivering automation using PowerShell. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change). Eligibility for UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.
