Role responsibilities



Lead a multi-disciplined team to manage all system safety engineering assurance policies, processes, and procedures, in accordance with Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Acceptance (CSM-REA) and / or the regulations Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011 (as amended) (RIR), including ICP if appropriate to safeguard investment by ensuring delivered TfW infrastructure projects are safe, interoperable, technically compliant and are delivered to the specified quality within constraints of time and cost. Demonstrate projects have been delivered against TfW's System Safety and Authorisation Strategy requirements and regulatory requirements such as CSM-REA, RIR, ICP, etc. by liaising with PEs, LPEs, DPEs, CRE-D, CRE-C, Independent Assessors i.e. AsBos, ApBos / DeBos, and ICPs to safely Put into Use the infrastructure into operational service. Demonstrate TfW infrastructure projects have been delivered against Infrastructure Manger(s) (Network Rail and / or Amey Infrastructure Wales), Infrastructure Owner, and Infrastructure Operator requirements by adhering to the latest Network Rail standards, Core Valley Lines standards, industry standards, and all relevant regulatory requirements to ensure system safety assurance process are followed by all TfW infrastructure projects to Put into Use. Provide system safety engineering assurance representation and expertise through high-level meetings and be the contact point to support all internal and external stakeholders. Provide strategic oversight of TfW infrastructure project progress against key milestones and delivery dates by rigorously monitoring project trackers, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering timely updates to internal and external stakeholders to ensure all TfW infrastructure projects are delivered on schedule and fully meet system safety engineering assurance requirements.

Who we're looking for



Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience. Relevant degree in Engineering. A current valid Personal Track Safety Competence (PTS) card. Extensive knowledge and experience in CSM-REA RIR, ICP, and National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs). Experience of managing system safety assurance process on major projects throughout its full project lifecycle. Core knowledge of Built Environment, Civils, M&E (Mechanical and Electrical), E&P (Electrical and Power), Signalling, Telecoms, Track, Electrification, and Plant disciplines. Thorough knowledge of the key roles under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and how they influence project activities. Demonstrable experience of leading teams on large, high value, and complex capital infrastructure projects. Knowledge of setting up new processes and ways of working and embedding effective change.

Welsh Language Skills



The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
