We are recruiting for a

Senior Tax Specialist

to join the European Tax team in our

London office

. This position reports to the European Senior Tax Manager and involves collaboration with various departments on tax matters at both European and Global levels.


Together with the Senior Tax Manager for Europe, you'll be developing the

UNIQLO

European tax strategy, identifying business efficiency opportunities, and managing tax compliance coordination. A thorough understanding of the organisation's operational and financial aspects is expected in order to provide relevant information for key business decisions.


What you will

be responsible for



Business Insights & Analysis



Build relationships with management across online and retail teams to proactively identify potential tax issues and enhance understanding of tax requirements. Engage in regular communication with store and SSC colleagues to support tax accounting and compliance, and to clarify the accounting consequences of business activities.

Tax Compliance & Reporting



Collect relevant internal data and documentation, including all necessary VAT and IntraStat information, to support accurate and timely tax filings. Prepare and submit corporation tax returns accurately and on schedule, with guidance and support from external advisors. Collaborate with external advisors on the preparation and submission of VAT returns for all applicable jurisdictions . Work with external advisors to compile and file European IntraStat reports as required . Coordinate with external advisors for the preparation and filing of other local tax returns. Track all tax liabilities and payment deadlines to ensure full compliance. Coordinate with accountants, advisors, and external auditors for tax reporting and compliance across the region. Maintain and regularly update transfer pricing documentation for all transactions. Support ongoing compliance with OECD guidelines and local regulations. Prepare comprehensive annual tax disclosures for both IFRS group and local ledgers.

Tax Advisory & Business Partnering:



Advise business functions and store management on tax matters, including the impact of new products, market entries, and operational changes. Collaborate with other departments (finance, accounting, corporate planning, supply chain, commercial) and external consultants to ensure ongoing tax compliance and promote tax awareness across the business. Monitor updates in tax legislation, communicate relevant changes to the business, and support the implementation of required adjustments.

Process Improvement & Controls



Actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of tax accounting and reporting processes. Support automation and digitalisation initiatives, including implementing and optimising systems such as SAP, ERP, and other tax technologies. Closely monitor internal controls and procedures to identify areas for enhancement. Implement improvements to reduce risk and drive efficiency within the tax function. Support training and development for the wider finance team and other departments to promote best practices and process improvements across the organisation.

Skills, Experience and Attributes:



Qualified Tax professional with 3- 5 years' experience in a multinational consumer business, either from consultancy or in-house Strong working knowledge of IFRS, VAT, corporation tax, transfer pricing, and other indirect taxes across Europe. Strong Stakeholder Management experience and influencing skills Advanced Excel skills are essential; knowledge of SAP is an advantage. Excellent analytical and organisational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and collaborate with external advisors. Capable of clearly communicating tax-related topics to both management and store staff. Proactive and adaptable; able to work independently as well as effectively within a team. Keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Fluent in English. Highly motivated, accustomed to a fast-paced environment, and eager to embrace new challenges as the business grows and develops.
