About the role
Are you passionate about delivering products to operations that are not only innovative but also easy to manufacture and support? As our Senior Technical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our new products are optimised for production and service from the outset. You'll lead design reviews, embed best practices like DfM and DfS, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions into Operations minimising sustaining overhead and maximising product quality and efficiency.
What you will bring to the role:Drive Effective Design Reviews:
Facilitate structured design reviews across the entire product lifecycle, ensuring cross-functional stakeholder input and resolving manufacturing and serviceability issues early in development
Lead Product Industrialisation Activities:
Manage the smooth transition of new products into Operations, ensuring design intent aligns with manufacturing, assembly, testing, and service capabilities
Champion Design for X (DfX) Methodologies:
Lead DfM, DfA, DfT, DfQ, and DfS activities throughout development, and establish practical guidelines and standards to embed these principles in NVI projects
Provide Expert Manufacturing & Service Guidance:
Advise product teams on manufacturing methods, assembly/test processes, and service considerations, while proactively recommending design improvements to enhance manufacturability, serviceability, and quality.
Supplier & Operations Collaboration:
Work closely with suppliers to optimise system and subassembly designs for quality, cost, and manufacturability, and support internal manufacturing teams during nursery cell builds and pilot production phases
Knowledge Transfer & Continuous Improvement:
Develop training materials, deliver workshops, and ensure effective knowledge sharing to upskill Operations teams in DfX best practices and manufacturing readiness.
About you:You hold a degree in Mechanical, Electronics or Manufacturing Engineering, or have equivalent experience
You bring 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related fields
You're experienced in DfM, DfA, DfS, and other design optimisation methodologies
You have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, and service operations
You've successfully transitioned products from development to production
You're confident leading design reviews and implementing improvements.
You're skilled in value engineering techniques
You're a great communicator and collaborator, able to work across multiple teams and projects
