NFU Mutual Guidewire Centre of Excellence

It's an exciting time at NFU Mutual. We've already rolled out Guidewire's ClaimCenter and BillingCenter and as part of a company-wide transformation we're now rolling out PolicyCenter. It's a strategic move that touches nearly every part of our operations, and the results will be felt not just today but well into the future. It's a huge undertaking and a critical one for our long-term success, so we're growing our Guidewire Centre of Excellence to build the expertise and capabilities needed to leverage Guidewire to its full potential. This is your chance to be part of the creation of transformative Guidewire solutions that will have a lasting impact on the general insurance business at NFU Mutual, our customers and their communities.

About the role

------------------

As a Senior Technical Specification Developer (24 Month FTC), you will be supporting the strategic migration of policies from legacy systems into Guidewire PolicyCenter. You'll be the crucial link between business requirements and development delivery, understanding complex data structures, translating them into consistent technical specifications, and guiding the dev team on how to extract and process data in a repeatable, performant, and scalable way.

Your main focus will be designing and prescribing how data should be extracted from the legacy system, ensuring that developers implement solutions in a standardised and efficient manner. This helps avoid duplication of effort and achieves consistent and stable outcomes across the workstream. You'll review and analyse technical system requirements, challenge existing designs where needed, and recommend improvements to ensure effective data movement. While the role is highly technical, collaboration will be key as you work closely with developers, business analysts and other project stakeholders to support successful policy migration.

You'll also be a key contributor to maintaining best practices across the team, supporting developers as they follow your technical specs and providing guidance where necessary.

You'll play a key role in supporting the team by reviewing and QAing code, mentoring junior developers, and occasionally getting hands-on with coding when needed. Whether it's troubleshooting issues, refining existing code, or guiding best practices, your expertise will help ensure high-quality, reliable solutions across the team."

This is a role where you'll have real influence, improving the overall efficiency and accuracy of the programme's technical delivery.

About you

-------------

This role depends on strong teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to influence others. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, building trusted relationships and communicating clearly to drive progress. Your ability to listen, adapt, and bring people together will be just as important as your technical skills.

Essential skills and experience

Strong experience in SAP BODS (BusinessObjects Data Services) development
Demonstrable SQL expertise and strong understanding of data modelling and ETL processes
Experience designing technical specifications and working across legacy-to-strategic platform migrations
Understanding of end-to-end system design and ability to identify and recommend improvements
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and awareness of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

Desirable

Ideally, experience working with Guidewire systems or within the insurance domain (useful, but not essential)

Internally this role is known as Senior Developer.
