Reports to: Managing Director UK and collaborating with UK Regional Business Managers

About the Role




We are looking for a

Senior Test Automation Architect - Consulting

to design and drive best-in-class Quality Engineering testing solutions across complex delivery environments with various UK based customers. You will play a key role in shaping automation frameworks, defining technical standards, and ensuring high-quality software delivery across our UK and offshore teams.


As a technical guru and strategic thinker, you will collaborate closely with quality engineering teams, QA leads, DevOps, and client stakeholders to embed scalable, maintainable, and high-performing automated test architectures across the software development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities



Technical Leadership



Be the focal point for all

Test Automation & Quality Engineering projects

across a diverse portfolio of UK based customers across Commercial, Utilities, Public Sector and BFSI. Design and evolve

test automation frameworks

for web, mobile, API, and backend systems. Define

architecture standards, coding practices, and reusable test components

to support continuous delivery pipelines. Evaluate and introduce the right tools and technologies (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium). Ensure automation solutions are aligned with

CI/CD and DevOps practices

.

Strategic Oversight



Lead proof-of-concepts, tool assessments, and

automation strategy workshops

with internal teams and clients. Champion a

Shift Left testing approach

, promoting early test design and integration into development workflows. Establish and track

automation KPIs

, test coverage, and defect trends.

Collaboration & Mentoring



Work with cross-functional teams across UK and offshore locations to

promote Quality Engineering best practices

. Guide and mentor Quality Engineers on

technical implementation and problem-solving

. Partner with

Key Practice Head in Quality Engineering

who delivery teams to tailor automation frameworks that meet diverse business and technical needs.

Required Skills & Experience



7+ years of experience in test automation, including 5+ years in a

test architect or senior SDET role ideally within the consultancy sector

Deep knowledge of automation tools:

Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium

, TestNG, JUnit. Proven experience integrating automation with

CI/CD pipelines

using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps. Strong programming skills in

Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python

. Solid understanding of

RESTful APIs, microservices

, and test automation for distributed systems. Familiarity with

cloud platforms

(AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes). Excellent communication skills and experience working in

agile, distributed delivery teams

.

Preferred Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. ISTQB Test Automation Engineer or equivalent technical certifications. Experience in client-facing roles or within a

consulting environment

is a strong advantage.
