IQGeo is seeking a 6-month fixed-term contract Senior Test Automation Engineer to support the scalability of our Web and Mobile Software. Our Engineering teams are in Cambridge (UK), Denver (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), and Ghent (Belgium) and are responsible for designing and developing our geospatial products which are available both as cloud services and for on-premises deployment. You will be helping to develop the next generation of innovative geospatial products that support mission-critical operations for our global customer base.




Duties/Responsibilities





As a key contributor to our Scalability Testing initiative, the successful candidate will be implementing and executing performance testing strategies to meet critical customer requirements within a 6-month timeframe. Your duties and responsibilities will include:



Design, development, and implementation of scalability tests in Python using Locust (or similar framework) Creation and execution of automated load tests to simulate real-world usage patterns Analysis and reporting of performance bottlenecks and system behavior under various load conditions Make recommendations to development teams to implement performance improvements Collaboration with the SRE team to ensure infrastructure is working and tuned properly Collaboration with DevOps team to implement automation of scalability tests Working with product management and customer success teams to define scalability requirements and success metrics Documentation of test approaches, results, and recommendations for future scalability efforts



Required Skills & Experience





Essential



You must have all of the following:


Professional experience designing and implementing scalability/performance testing frameworks using Python Demonstrated experience with Locust or similar scalability testing tools Strong understanding of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) Experience defining and analyzing performance metrics and identifying bottlenecks Professional experience with SQL and database performance testing Proven ability to quickly ramp up on complex systems and deliver results in time-sensitive situations Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document findings and present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience using Git or other distributed version control systems Ability to work independently and deliver completed projects with minimal supervision UK citizenship or permanent residency required Fluent written and spoken English




Desirable



Ideally, you'll have some of the following:


Experience with cloud-based load testing and auto-scaling infrastructure Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK stack Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated test execution Background in performance testing API-based services Experience implementing test data generation strategies for high-volume testing Experience mentoring teams on performance testing best practices Prior contract work demonstrating ability to deliver value in short-term engagements Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or web mapping Experience within the telecommunications and/or utilities industries



Education





Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.

Work Locations and Flexibility





This is a hybrid role with expectations that two days are spent in the office per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays are ideal for collaboration purposes,) and the other days can be spent working remotely.






The contractor is expected to be available during core business hours (9 AM - 3 PM BST/GMT), whether working in the office or remotely. Outside of these core hours, the schedule offers flexibility to accommodate personal commitments.
