Location: This role could be based in either our Wythall, Telford, or London offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Senior Trainee Actuary to join our Group Capital Modelling team.

The role

We\'re currently recruiting for a Senior Trainee Actuary (typically those who have passed the CM, CB, CS and CP exams) to join our Actuarial Programme to develop the skills, competencies and behaviours of a fully effective qualified actuary within the business through a structured programme involving placement training and professional education, working competently and effectively within each placement.

As part of our actuarial programme you\'ll be studying towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). You\'ll be given a generous and fully supported study package that includes paid leave and funding for revision materials, including tutorials. You will be given the flexibility to make a study plan that works for you and will join our internal Actuarial community, which organises Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Professional Skills Training and networking events for anyone part or fully qualified.

As a Senior Trainee Actuary in our Group Capital Modelling team, you will support new and innovative work to enhance our capital models, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure our models adapt to the evolving needs of the business.

  • Develop methodology and market risk calibration proposals aligned to capital modelling roadmaps and frameworks, and gain stakeholder buy-in
  • Assist senior leadership in identifying and implementing enhancements to the capital models to improve our risk modelling and understanding
  • Assist senior leadership on all capital model related governance and guide on regulatory engagement for Internal Model developments
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across Phoenix Group, establish stakeholder interests and ensuring outputs from the actuarial function remain up-to-date, relevant and effective
  • Coach and mentor actuarial trainees within the team to support their development

What We\'re Looking For

Essential
  • Passes in all of the Actuarial Core Principle exams, or equivalent
  • Strong IT skills

  • Good level of knowledge of Life products, processes and reporting
  • Good judgement and reasoning skills
