Senior UAS Surveyor

Purpose of the Role




This role bridges advanced UAS piloting with traditional and modern surveying practices, ensuring high-accuracy data capture across diverse environments and sectors. The Senior UAS Surveyor & Technical Lead will operate as a subject matter expert across both aerial and terrestrial survey domains, contributing to project delivery, innovation, and team development. The successful candidate will also support strategic initiatives such as service development, capability expansion, and training.


Key Responsibilities




Survey Operations




Lead delivery of drone-based and terrestrial survey operations across infrastructure, oil and gas, nuclear, rail, and built environment sectors. Execute and QA photogrammetry, LiDAR, thermal, and SLAM data capture workflows. Design and deliver hybrid capture solutions blending UAS and terrestrial techniques for highly complex or access-constrained sites. Conduct and verify site control using total stations and GNSS. Develop CAD outputs and BIM-ready models from point cloud and image datasets.

Leadership & Technical Oversight




Mentor junior pilots and surveyors in data acquisition, safety, and processing techniques. Support development and enforcement of SOPs and flight safety standards, including CAA compliance. Oversee technical documentation, RAMS, and client scopes. Assist with fleet readiness, maintenance records, and flight logs.

Data Processing & Innovation




Process UAS and survey datasets using Pix4D, Metashape, RealityCapture, Cyclone, Autodesk and Revit. Ensure delivery of client-ready outputs to defined QA standards. Identify and trial emerging payloads, platforms, and workflows to improve data quality or efficiency.

Client Interaction & Commercial Support




Liaise directly with clients and contractors during scoping, execution, and delivery. Provide technical input to tender responses, pricing strategies, and proposal development. Represent the business at client meetings, demos, or industry events when required.

Requirements




GVC and A2CofC certified; >300 flight hours across rotary and fixed-wing platforms. Advanced experience operating Elios 2/3, DJI P1/L2 LiDAR platforms. Proven track record delivering UAS and traditional survey deliverables under challenging site conditions. Expertise in photogrammetry, SLAM integration, and Revit model generation. Inspection experience in congested airspace. Ability to lead field teams and manage high-risk/complex sites with confidence. * Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel UK-wide and overseas.
