Seo Content Writer

Wakefield, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Join our growing award-winning agency based in the heart of Wakefield on our journey to expand, evolve and become one of the leading digital agencies in the region.

Working closely with the Head of SEO, your role will be to create engaging, high quality content that aims to rank well for various keywords, entices customers to buy our client's products or utilise their services.

You'll conduct keyword and topic research to understand the content you need to create, collaborate with our clients to gather any information you may need and create structured content that helps and informs readers.

You'll also create overarching strategies for content such as topic cluster strategies which aim to interlink content that supports one another to improve the topical authority of our client's websites and in turn their SEO performance.

Whilst primarily a content writing role, there is the opportunity to work towards the management of some of our SEO clients entirely in the future, working closely with and reporting into the Head of SEO. So it's a real opportunity if you're someone who wants to continue growing your career.

You'll work closely with the Head of SEO to improve our client's SEO performance and the work you do will be integral to their success. You'll be a key member of our growing small agency, with a real opportunity to share your ideas, contribute to our client's (and our) growth and learn from and work alongside experienced digital agency team members across various areas (SEO, PPC, Development, Design & Business Development).

We're looking for someone who showcases initiative, works well within a team and takes pride in their work. If that sounds like you, then read on to discover exactly what your responsibilities will be!

Key Responsibilities Include:

Create homepage, category page, blog, guide and product page content that entices the intended audience to either purchase products, engage with the brand or utilise the services of the company. Create content that informs, resonates and connects with readers, utilising different tones of voice depending on the client you're writing for. Carrying out detailed topic and keyword research and planning efficiently for each piece of content, you'll utilise information available to you across existing pieces of content, the wider web and show initiative to get in touch with our clients to gather any specific information you require. Understand how AI overviews in Google search and various AI LLM's may read, understand and deliver your content, ensuring this is considered within your strategy and content writing. Ensuring titles, meta descriptions, headings and the anchor text on internal links is correctly implemented in line with best SEO practices on any content you create. Optimise existing blogs and understand how they could be improved or combined with other blogs to improve SEO performance. Updating and improving internal linking as new blogs are created is important too. Create content strategies that work towards providing comprehensive information on relevant and related topics to the business, their services or products. For example, topic cluster strategies that interlink various pieces of content, each supporting one another to improve SEO performance. Use our internal task management software to schedule your workload in collaboration with the Head of SEO. Provide clear instructions to our development team when it comes to publishing content. Ensuring that your content documents are clearly marked when it comes to headings, how you'd like the content to be laid out and where on the website. Over time, there is an opportunity to completely manage many of our clients when it comes to SEO, collaborating with and reporting into the Head of SEO when it comes to your strategies and ideas. This is dependent on SEO experience, skills and understanding, which can grow over time.

SEO knowledge and experience is highly desirable, but the desire and drive to learn more when it comes to SEO if existing knowledge is basic will be considered too. An individual with drive and the desire to learn and improve their skills. Someone who genuinely has a passion for writing and has pride in their output. As an agency, we love to collaborate and share ideas. So someone who wants to contribute ideas to discussions, spark conversations and showcase their initiative would be great!
