Job description
Cheshire Constabulary is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sergeant to join our Driver Training School. This is a key leadership position within our training department, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality driver training to police officers and staff across the force. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person.
Main Responsibilities

Lead, manage and motivate a team of driving instructors, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and instruction.
Plan, coordinate, and deliver a range of police driver training courses, including standard and advanced courses, in accordance with national police driving standards.
Monitor and assess the performance of trainees, providing constructive feedback and support to facilitate their development.
Maintain accurate training records and ensure all training activities are fully documented and compliant with force policies.
Promote a positive culture of road safety and professional driving within the force.
Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve training delivery and outcomes.
Ensure all training vehicles and equipment are maintained to the required standard.
Essential Criteria
----------------------
Currently serving as a substantive Sergeant within UK policing.
Qualified police driver, with an advanced driving authority (ideally holding an appropriate instructor qualification).
Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience in supervising teams.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to high standards of integrity and professional conduct.
Desirable Criteria
----------------------
Experience in the design and delivery of police driver training programmes.
Relevant instructor or assessor qualifications (e.g. College of Policing Driver Instructor).
Knowledge of national police driving standards and legislation.
