About this Role:
We are looking to recruit a Service Charge Accountant to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of service charge year end accounts for a diverse portfolio which varies in complexity and size. The role will require liaising and communicating with the accounts team as well as email and phone correspondence with our property management team and external auditors.
Some Responsibilities and Goals you'll own:
The role requires production of year-end service charge accounts and client reporting of varying complexity and size, proactively identifying and addressing irregularities.
Financial integration of new sites taken into management, and financial offboarding of sites where management has been lost to a new agent.
Ensure the year end service charge accounts are drafted, reviewed by the property team, certified/audited by an external accountant, and with the client for review, within agreed timeframes.
Management of central email inboxes and internal trackers to monitor production progress of work.
Be a direct line of contact for clients and understand the client's financial requirements to ensure expected service levels are met.
Work closely with external auditors and accountants to maintain a consistently high standard of service to clients.
Support budget production and work closely with the property management team to ensure accuracy of billing.
Ensure all client accounting is carried out in line with current legislation, regulations and best practice.
Assist with the development of procedures and controls to improve the responsiveness, efficiency, timeliness and accuracy of all outputs.
Provide a high level of customer service to clients and colleagues, ensuring that the department can respond quickly and accurately to all client and lessee queries and provide accurate reporting on the management of their records.
Promote the department as a key business partner to the property management team.
Other tasks as may be required.
Must Have Skills:
Fully qualified or working towards AAT
Experience in reconciling large data sets.
Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
Proficient in use of Microsoft packages, including Word, Advanced Excel and Outlook.
Exceptional organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines.
An effective team player.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
A "can do" and "right first time" attitude.
Bonus / Superhero Skills:
Experience of using QUBE system.
Experience of working within a residential block management environment.
Knowledge of service charge accounts and relevant legislation/guidance.
Previous experience working with external clients.
