A rare opportunity has arisen for a

Service Design Lead

to drive the Isle of Man Government Efficiencies and Change Programme. This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of the Cabinet Office, for a

12 month limited term appointment

.


In this role, you will lead initiatives that improve end-to-end, user-centric services across both digital and offline channels. This is your chance to strengthen service design capability across government, enhance citizen experiences and deliver measurable efficiencies and public value.


We are looking for a leader with exceptional service design expertise, a deep understanding of the public sector and the ability to navigate complex and politically sensitive environments.

About the Isle of Man Government

Efficiencies and Change Programme

Launched in 2024, the Efficiencies and Change Programme is a major cross-government initiative aiming to deliver 50 million in savings over five years. It supports Departments in delivering high-quality public services that are simpler, faster and better for the Isle of Man community.


The Programme focuses on long-term sustainability, transparency, empowering staff and achieving real, measurable savings. Progress is reported quarterly to ensure public accountability. At its core are

What

you will do

.



As Service Design Lead, you will translate government priorities into practical, user-centred services that improve citizen experiences and operational efficiency. You will lead service design initiatives across multiple Departments, embedding best-practice methodologies and building capability across teams. Key responsibilities include:

Lead the design and improvement of end-to-end services across digital and offline channels. Build service design capability across government through mentoring and guidance. Use evidence, insights, and data to inform design decisions and measure impact. Establish frameworks, standards and metrics to track service quality and user satisfaction. Facilitate collaborative workshops and co-creation sessions with stakeholders. Advise senior leaders and ministers on service design strategy and innovation. Identify risks and barriers, developing solutions for effective, inclusive and sustainable services.
