Are you an experienced commissioning and procurement professional looking for a leadership role within a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Service Lead - Commissioning & Procurement to join our Commissioning and Procurement Service, reporting to the Service Director - Finance, Property & Procurement.

Role



As the Service Lead - Commissioning & Procurement, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the commissioning and procurement function across the Council. You will be responsible for:

Leading a team of commissioning and procurement professionals to deliver high-quality commissioning and procurement services Ensuring effective procurement processes are in place to achieve value for money and drive innovation Working collaboratively with service areas to identify commissioning needs and develop appropriate strategies Managing relationships with external providers and suppliers Monitoring and evaluating contract performance to ensure successful delivery of outcomes Providing expert advice and guidance on procurement and commissioning issues In addition, you will work closely with the Service Director to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organisation and ensure alignment with corporate priorities.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commissioning and procurement, ideally within a public sector environment. You will possess the following skills and attributes:

Extensive experience in leading and managing commissioning and procurement teams In-depth knowledge of procurement legislation and best practices Proven ability to deliver complex commissioning and procurement projects Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Effective line management and leadership skills Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment As a key member of the Council's leadership team, you will also be expected to contribute to corporate initiatives and work collaboratively with other service leads to achieve shared goals.
