About the Role

This is a pivotal leadership role focused on delivering new affordable housing across the district.

As Service Manager for Housing Development, you will drive forward the Council's housing growth ambitions, working collaboratively with Registered Providers, developers, and strategic partners.

Your work will directly impact the availability and quality of affordable housing, helping to shape sustainable communities and improve lives.

This role is subject to a Basic DBS check.

Key Responsibilities


------------------------



Lead and manage the delivery of new build affordable housing projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with Council objectives. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Homes England, Registered Providers, and private developers to maximise housing delivery. Oversee feasibility studies, viability assessments, and procurement processes to ensure projects are financially sound and compliant. Coordinate internal services including Planning, Legal, Finance, and Asset Management to support housing development programmes.

About you



We are looking for some who;

Has significant experience in affordable housing development, regeneration, and partnership working, ideally within a social housing context. Possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and external partners. Demonstrates strong project management capabilities, including budget control, procurement knowledge, and performance monitoring. Is adaptable, innovative, and able to lead and motivate teams while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with an expectation of e.g. 2 days per week in the office.
