Service Manager Learning Disabilities, Transitions & Safeguarding

Job Description


We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled individual to work as the Service Manager to oversee the management of learning disabilities, transitions, and safeguarding. This is a busy integrated service comprising of a range of health and social care professionals offering a holistic provision to our resident.The successful candidate will require strong leadership experience either at service manager level in a health or social care setting or be a team manager with a desire to further their career and develop their skills in operational and strategic level management. They will require excellent and compassionate people management skills, IT proficiency, and strong networking skills , demonstrating an ability to work across agencies and organisations ensuring effective communication and collaboration with all statutory and voluntary sector partners in the local network. They will also demonstrate well developed legal literacy and a clear knowledge, understanding and practice of the relevant legal frameworks and guidance e.g., Care Act 2014; Children and Families Act 2014; Mental Capacity Act 2005, Pan London Safeguarding framework and Transforming Care requirements. This post will also support the Head of Service to lead on safeguarding therefore, the successful candidate will need to have strong knowledge and experience to work confidently and decisively in this area.Main duties of the jobYou will also require:

  • Experience of team managing where you have effectively managed teams with an in-depth and broad knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory functions and national guidance that pertain to adults.
  • To assist with the responsibility of the day to day running of the directorate.
  • Actively work and attend meetings with Health to ensure an integrated service.
  • Have a good understanding of departmental budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee and manage Subject Access requests, Freedom of Information requests, complaints, and members enquiries to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Expert experience and knowledge of the statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 and other legislation.
  • Attend/chair Outcomes Forum as required to ensure standardised efficient and effective practice, ensuring funding is applied appropriately (CHC, Sec 117, LA, self-funding) according to individual entitlement.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Head of Service
