This role sits within our children and families directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country.


TYPE OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR/ WHAT'S EXPECTED OF THEM







To lead the Children's Society's Nottingham Next Generation team to support young people who are experiencing a cumulation of issues and vulnerabilities. Responsible for the line management of staff who operate across the voluntary and statutory sector networks highlighting, challenging and influencing systems.



You will be required to oversee complex safeguarding and ensure high quality casework. You will be responsible for triaging referrals for young people, identifying risks and vulnerabilities for young people as well as workers and ensuring high quality safeguarding across the team.



Alongside managing safeguarding, the role is also responsible for overseeing systems change interventions to improve the system response to young people. This requires engagement with key external partners, coordinating and delivering training and promotion of service and public speaking on behalf of the organisation.



You will supervise, empower and manage the performance of staff to deliver meaningful, safe and quality support for vulnerable young people and change the systems that surround them. This role requires management of diverse disciplines. You will be required to champion and promote Youth Voice across the local programme.



You will be required to oversee budgets and performance data for the service, support with monitoring and ensuring issues identified through data and oversight are addressed in the local teams and to contribute to monitoring reports. You will also be required to contribute and play an active part in the evaluation of the Programme.



To support the growth of the Next Generation Programme through work with TCS National Programme's, Communities of Practice and Working Groups to identify patterns, trends and share good practice.





KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES





In order to be successful in this role, you must have:


To oversee the delivery and development of the Next Generation team locally in accordance with current legislation and safe practice and to be the services safeguarding lead. To manage and support a team within The Children's Society's performance management procedures, (including recruitment, training, case management and regular supervision) To have oversight and scrutiny over your team's caseload (both young people and "systems change interventions"), ensuring quality practice and effective safeguarding when managing complex safeguarding caseloads of children and young people To oversee performance data locally, identify issues to be addressed and continually improve practice in casework and systems change. To regularly input into monitoring reports to funders/commissioners. To ensure clear referrals routes are continually reviewed and communicated to key local partners To represent the organisation externally, building relationships with key stakeholders to influence change, and to contribute effectively to multi-agency working across the area. To be proactive and generous in sharing knowledge, expertise and methods of systems change and safeguarding in line with the organisation's commitment to generous leadership. To ensure high quality systems change work and interventions are effective in delivering strategic change for children and young people aligned to the Programme's systems change priorities To identify opportunities to grow the Next Generation service locally and regionally through strategic partnerships Quality assure "systems change interventions" to safeguard the reputation of The Children's Society externally To develop models of practice and participation that enable children and young people to be involved in the work of the service and The Children's Society. Work closely with colleagues in our other national programmes and local services to ensure synergy and collaboration across The Children's Society. To work with the Disrupting Exploitation team and wider TCS services in the region to identify patterns and trends that point to areas the team can work on that are structural in nature e.g. training and policy/practice change To develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems in line with agreed targets, and to actively contribute to any external evaluation in place in the services you manage Monitor project expenditure in line with approved guidelines and contribute to financial reports
