We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Surgery Care Group as a Service Manager for ENT or Head & Neck Outpatients .



This role will be based at York Hospital , with the potential requirement to travel to and work at Scarborough Hospital as needed. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and service development within a dynamic and forward-thinking team.



The successful candidate requires excellent communication and team working skills, and will work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff on a daily basis, organising and prioritising both their own workload and that of others. They must have the ability to exercise sound judgement in relation to problem solving, and the ability to practice delegation, negotiation and motivation skills. Most importantly the candidate must have a flexible and patient centred approach.

The successful candidate will be required to:



Provide management support on a daily basis. The main focus of this is to manage day to day operational issues, to ensure smooth running of all the directorate's services.



Assist the Operational Service Managers in the maintenance and development of clinic/theatre timetables, junior doctor rotas, clinic templates, appointment systems and theatre scheduling.



Support the Operational Service Managers in investigating and responding to patient complaints and concerns, received in an appropriate and timely manner, in accordance with Trust policy.



Be responsible for the monitoring of patient pathways, including undertaking activity and waiting list monitoring, for both outpatient and inpatient patients to enable the specialty to meet access targets.



Be Responsible for the line management of a team comprising secretarial and administrative staff. This will involve participating in recruitment processes, including serving as a panel member, conducting personal development reviews, and managing the initial and follow-up stages of matters such as disciplinary actions, grievances, sickness absence, and performance concerns. Support and guidance will be available to help you navigate these responsibilities effectively.



Be responsible for ensuring that appropriate training is delivered to staff, and that individual staff members work allocation is managed effectively and reallocated as required to best meet the needs of the service.
