Are you driven by problem solving? Do you thrive working with technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Service Technician to join our team.



The purpose of this role is to learn and assist in the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and inspection of marine load handling equipment, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.



As a Service Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve learning from experienced technicians and assisting with the repair and maintenance of marine load handling equipment, including troubleshooting and performing routine tasks. In addition, you will conduct equipment tests, report defects, and document maintenance activities.

Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures Learn to use and practice safe rigging and lifting techniques Actively participate in safety meetings, training programs and on-the-job learning, including studying technical manuals and schematics Acquire the ability to operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment Assist with inventory control of parts and supplies, and maintain clean and organized work areas


This role is part of our Global Services Division. Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent for Merchant Products. This position is based in Liverpool or Hampshire areas, the United Kingdom.

What you'll need to succeed

Knowledge and understanding of load capacities, limitations, mechanical systems, including their operation and interaction, measurement, and calibration are essential for this position. We are looking for reliable individual who take ownership of tasks and possess a basic understanding of safe rigging and lifting techniques. You demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, and you are proficient in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools. You have the ability to work as part of a team and to perform tasks accurately with meticulous record keeping.



Ideally you have



Technical NVQ apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification Experience as an apprentice or trainee in an engineering role is an asset Understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems is an advantage Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams Competence in identifying and troubleshooting equipment issues Eagerness to learn and openness to feedback from senior technicians Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various condition
