Salary

: 122 day (8 hour day) or 15.25 per hour plus 14.54% holiday pay. Reasonable travel expenses can be claimed in line with EDT's policies.

Location:

Our programmes operate nationally, and we welcome applications from across the UK. However, candidates based in

Newcastle, Sheffield, London or the Highlands

are particularly encouraged to apply.

Hours:

Sessional hours will vary depending on the programme.

In Newcastle, we require staff for the Routes into STEM course from 9:00am to 5:00pm, 17-19 February,

with additional paid hours for pre-course briefing/training and a post-course debrief. Further sessional work is available nationally, primarily during school holidays, with some term-time hours. This includes residential Insight into University programmes at

Sheffield Hallam (21-24 July) and London (29 June-2 July),

as well as multiple other residential summer programmes and non-residential courses during other school holiday periods.

JOB PURPOSE

: We deliver a wide range of programmes that support our vision and mission to inspire and empower young people into positive futures through STEM education. We are seeking enthusiastic Supervisor staff to act in loco parentis on our courses, providing safeguarding, pastoral care, and leadership for groups of young people. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment, representing EDT professionally and motivating students to participate fully and gain maximum benefit from our programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



You will be the main point of call for safeguarding and pastoral support for students throughout your allocated programme, ensuring that EDT safeguarding procedures are always followed. You will represent EDT as the named member of staff for both the host organisation and the students in your care. You will welcome and check off students as they arrive, provide course programmes, and introduce them to other students. You will sign students out at the end of the course / day ensuring that they are travelling home appropriately. Use the Supervisor Pack resources to identify students with dietary needs or medical conditions at the beginning of the course and make sure any specific needs or adjustments are supported during the course. Should a student not arrive, you will inform the EDT Student Recruitment team within one hour of arrival so that they are able to follow up with their parents or guardians. You will support partner/host organisers in the dissemination of information about the course (timetable, venues, security etc). You will work collaboratively with host location staff and course coordinator to ensure the safety of all students, moving them around the various locations and site visits, in a timely way. You will carry out a headcount at the beginning and end of each day, as well as at other key times to ensure that all students are accounted for. You will act in loco parentis for the students, providing friendly advice in the case of any concerns or difficulties. You will encourage students to participate and gain maximum benefit from the course by actively engaging with them during hands-on activities and sign-posting further information as appropriate. Using the EDT provided phone to take photos of the course (checking the supervisor pack for photo permissions) and sending them over to EDT promptly at the end of each day. You will be an ambassador for EDT and will use language and behaviour which recognises the course hosts as EDT's client. You may facilitate workshops for courses with content pre-prepared by EDT, ensuring that students are engaged and the materials and delivered in a dynamic manner. You will ensure with the host that arrangements for student feedback have been made and actively check with students that they have provided the requested information before they leave the course. You will liaise with the host to arrange the handing out of certificates and badges at the end of the course. Within 3 days of the course finishing, you will provide concise but comprehensive Supervisor feedback to include your opinion of the academic content and administration of the course, non-attendance and injuries/illness/behavioural or other issues with students. Ensuring confidential information is disposed of securely after the course and EDT phone returned.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:



The successful candidate will be required to fulfil an enhanced DBS/PVG check.

Ability to travel/stay overnight as required is highly desirable Full clean driving license is desirable Access to own vehicle is desirable
