Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Setting Out Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate setting out and surveying support on construction projects, ensuring that works are carried out to the correct position, level, and alignment. This role is central to ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, working closely with site managers, engineers, and contractors.

Duties

Carry out setting out duties on site for structures, roads, utilities, and other construction elements. Use Total Stations, GPS, and levels to ensure accurate positioning and measurements. Interpret engineering drawings and transfer information to the ground with precision. Perform site surveys, as-built checks, and prepare related documentation. Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure design requirements are met. Monitor work progress and report on any technical or quality issues. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times. Maintain accurate site records, including quality checks and survey data.

Skills & Experience

Strong understanding of setting out techniques and surveying practices. Proficient in using instruments such as Total Stations, GPS equipment, and laser levels. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for accuracy. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software is desirable. Relevant degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline. Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on construction projects is advantageous. Must have a Gold CSCS card
