SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our dynamic team in Yorkshire. Reporting to the Manufacturing Production Coordinator this role is responsible for the efficient production of drapes and specialist creative textiles within the Manufacturing department. The role predominantly revolves around operating sewing machines and a high level of accuracy in sewing, measurement and fault identification is required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
Operate a sewing machine to manufacture drapes to a high-quality standard and efficiently as carrying out quality checks and fault identification during the process.
Experience of operating Flat Bed and Overlocking machines
Carry out basic servicing on the sewing machines that includes cleaning & lubrication of the machine.
Assist the cutting team where necessary with the folding, movement and cutting of cloth / drapes to ensure the efficiency of the department does not suffer.
Hand Stitching skills to a high quality
Ability to work under pressure is a must.
Effective Time Management Skills
Ability to read technical drawings and understand specifications.
Ensure personal workspace is always kept clean and tidy and when required assist with departmental cleaning as instructed by the Production Coordinator
Be available to work on site putting to use the skills and experience gained in house, this will involve travelling time and potential overnight stays.
Attention to detail must be high.
Flexible working ethos due to last minute overtime will be required.

Ability to work methodically and be organised.
Maintain a basic level of Health & Safety in all work practices and ensure where necessary any supplied PPE is utilized.
Participate in and promote any Company schemes or Policies as and when required to further the development of the department and /or Company. In all work and practices ensure the J&C Joel values are exhibited.
Any other ad-hoc duties considered reasonable, as requested by the Manufacturing Manager.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential.
Fluency in the English language both verbal and written is essential.
Previous experience of using a sewing machine.
Previous experience of sewing is essential.
Ability to work as both individual and as part of a team.
Desirable.
Quality driven and a fine eye for detail.
