We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced individual to join our Local School Board as Vice Chair.
SGS Pegasus School is a 4-19-year Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) school in Patchway, South Gloucestershire. SGS Pegasus provide a personalised academic, emotional, social, sensory and physical learning experience for autistic students, committed to supporting the development, wellbeing, and life skills of our students to help them reach their full potential. SGS Pegasus embrace diversity, promote equality, and encourage a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
As Vice Chair, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Chair of the Local School Board and acting as a deputy in their absence. You will work with the Local School Board to ensure the effective governance of the school, monitor its strategic direction, and contribute to the broader development of the school community. Responsibilities are delegated to committees of the Trust to include Local School Boards for each of our school. The Local School Board support the Trust in achieving its goals and improving governance.
You will be responsible for:
Following the National Governance Association's 4S principles: Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Standards, and Stakeholder engagement.
Supporting the Chair in the leadership of the Local School Board.
Attending and contributing to Local School Board meetings and school-related events.
Collaborating with other board members to review and evaluate the school's performance.
Offering constructive feedback and advice on key school decisions, strategies, and initiatives.
Establish a strong relationship with the Head of School and senior school leaders to provide effective support and challenge.
Advocating for the school in the wider community and with external stakeholders.
