Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Sheltered Resilience Officer to work within the Sheltered Housing service and you might be exactly who we're looking for!

The role - Ref: 25/186

Sheltered Resilience Officer

Permanent

37 hours per week

Scale 5a (28,598 - 29,540 per annum)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual who is committed to supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies and live as independently as possible. You will carry out detailed Needs and Risk Assessments for new residents and develop tailored Support Plans based on their individual circumstances. Regular welfare checks will form a key part of your role, along with reviewing support plans at least annually or when a change in circumstances occurs.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will work across a number of sheltered housing schemes throughout the town, providing vital housing management support to older and vulnerable residents. You will be responsible for managing several schemes, maintaining regular contact with tenants, completing support plans and risk assessments and responding promptly to emergency calls.

You will provide practical support by signposting or referring tenants to a range of specialist services, such as debt advice, credit unions, mental health services, adult social care and Citizens Advice. A significant aspect of this role involves helping tenants achieve financial stability by supporting them to access benefits, complete relevant forms, manage household budgets, and make informed financial decisions.

In addition, you will be expected to respond to emergency calls and safeguarding concerns, liaise effectively with external agencies such as the police and social services, and contribute to multi-agency meetings and case conferences where required. Other duties include providing support where appropriate, advocating on behalf of tenants, assisting with utilities, reporting repairs, liaising with the anti-social behaviour team and supporting residents and their families.

This is a challenging but highly rewarding position that requires excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. You should be proactive, empathetic, and able to build positive working relationships with residents, colleagues and partner agencies alike.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with vulnerable customers with a range of social and housing needs, be confident and self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and as part of a dispersed team. An understanding of professional boundaries together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
A minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) to include Maths and English, at grade 4/C or above is essential.
