Job Description

At McDermotts, we're hiring a SHEQ Advisor to join our dynamic team and to support the McDermotts function in Aston, Birmingham.



You will be required to support the SHEQ Director through on-site inspections, audits and evaluations of practices and procedures, worker engagement, investigation and reporting, coaching workforce and supply chain, ensuring compliance with legislation and CDM Regulations 2015.




Main Responsibilities




Be an integral part of helping to deliver accident and incident free projects. Advising contract and site staff on content of risk assessments, method statements, task-specific briefings, Site Health & Safety Plans, and safety issues generally. Represent the company at safety meetings with clients and sub-contractors. Accident investigation and reports. Carry out with the team and ensure improvement actions are identified and closed out. Produce relevant Safety Bulletins for company wide distribution Communication of safety initiatives/notices/alerts to staff and workforce. Liaison with SHEQ Director - producing project summaries, assisting in procedure reviews. Attend weekly SHEQ review meetings. Assist with developmentand deliver in-house safety training programs/presentations. Issue staff information as to changes in technology, work methods or statutory requirements by means of safety tbt, and internal safety procedures applicable to the Company. Keep up to speed with client H&S Standards and Specifications and ensure that these are implemented at project level. Devise strategies to meet targets and encourage best practices ensuring compliance with HSE legislation. Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position. Comply with company policies & procedures.



To be considered for the role you must have:




NEBOSH Construction Certificate as a minimum Experience in Groundworks or civil engineering Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines Good investigation and problem-solving skills Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessments Excellent organisational and motivational skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities Driving licence



Education:



NEBOSH Qualification (general & construction) or equivalent IOSH Membership Valid CSCS Card



Experience (essential):



IT literate Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Ability to raise awareness and improve safety culture Proactively lead and manage the HSE Management policies, procedures, and practices Ability to train and develop staff, improving their understanding and capabilities Ability to work in a pro-active, cooperative manner with client, contract, and site staff to improve performance and minimise non-conformances on site
