Job Description

Role Purpose



Working in a safety critical fast paced service environment you will ensure the effective implementation of Group SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards and compliance frameworks at a local level. The role is hands-on, supporting operational teams in embedding safe working practices, compliance procedures, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the managing director you will be engaged directly in strategic development and delivery of the IMS. You will act as the local "go-to" for SHEQ and compliance matters, ensuring policies, procedures, and training from Group are effectively applied, while tailoring site-level processes to meet operational needs.

Key Responsibilities



Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ):



Implement and maintain the Group and Local Integrated Management Systems (IMS) at main depot and satellite sites. Support operational teams with day-to-day SHEQ compliance, audits, and inspections including customer visits. Conduct regular site visits and site inspections, ensuring safe systems of work are in place. Review and ensure risk assessments are fit for purpose. Monitor accident/incident reporting, conduct investigations, and follow up on corrective actions. Promote a strong SHEQ culture by engaging directly with operational staff ("boots on the ground" approach). Monitor compliance of safety critical equipment and PPE. Coordinate external audits and inspections from regulatory bodies and clients.

Compliance:



Support the roll-out of Group compliance training locally, ensuring 100% completion. Monitor local compliance registers (e.g. permits, licenses, equipment inspections, driver/vehicle checks, COSHH). Develop local procedures aligned with Group IMS. Track regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the depots, escalating risks/issues to the board. Keep compliance documentation and reporting systems accurate and up to date. Coordinate audit readiness.

Reporting & Governance:



Provide regular reports and KPIs to the board on SHEQ performance and compliance. Support the board in meeting its legal duties and responsibilities in health, safety, and compliance. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Training



Develop and deliver local SHEQ training program and support Group training initiatives. Develop and manage training matrices for SHEQ, compliance & operational trainings Identify new training opportunities to add value to our customers

Key Skills & Experience



Hands-on experience in SHEQ and compliance in an operational service environment (utilities, logistics, construction or similar). Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) desirable. Experience with compliance registers, audits, and policy implementation. Practical, approachable, and able to engage effectively with depot staff. Self-starter, comfortable as a "team of one" but able to liaise with Group SHEQ support. IT literate - able to manage reporting, document control, and compliance systems. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to satellite depots. NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate
