Job description - Lead Critical Systems Technician
The scope of services to be provided by the engineering senior critical shift engineer are as follows but are not exhaustive.
Person in Charge of a shift team comprising of multi skilled critical shift technicians.
Scheduling and allocation of planned critical and reactive tasks across the shift team.
Act as primary critical systems engineering contact Mon-Fri - Day Shift only.
Administrative tasks for each team member e.g. absence; rota; overtime etc.
Issue and closure of various work Permits etc as required.
Raising of work requests and/or authorisations for reactive type of works.
Responsible for delivering all relevant statutory maintenance requirements.
Support the Engineering Shift Leads to conduct monthly system/s integration tests.
Responsible for maintaining critical system resilience and asset availability 24/7/365.
Provide end of shift status report & transfer responsibilities to incoming shift leader.
Responsible for the delivery of planned critical and preventative maintenance tasks working within our Planon Intelligent Work Management System (IWMS).
Responsible for supporting critical system/asset reactive maintenance tasks allocated via the IWMS.
Update both planned and reactive critical maintenance tasks within the IWMS system.
Undertake daily & periodic building system & equipment checks to maintain installed systems operational 24/7/365.
Manage critical engineering faults and failures to set priority response and fix times, assuring safe working environments and maintaining business operations with minimal down time experienced.
Undertake routine inspections & reports across critical and essential building systems and assets across HVAC; electrical; public health; fire and all other building engineering systems.
Perform Clerk of Work duties when required, consisting of inspecting the quality and workmanship of installed works, witnessing tests, and validating commissioning activities. Produce the associated inspection report, disseminate to stakeholders, and follow up on non-conformances until satisfactory completion.
Deliver a proactive approach to engineering maintenance seeking to bring innovation and ideas to the attention of management.
Manage statutory testing across life safety systems, critical assets and other building systems as directed via the IWMS system.
Across office and engineering environments, validate and manage measurements and surveys as directed.
Support and coordinate statutory testing of all Life Safety systems across the portfolio.
Support specialist OEM contractors undertaking critical system and asset periodic maintenance, reactive and emergency call-out tasks.
Deliver a daily shift hand-over log to the incoming critical shift team.
Participate as an Authorised Person (HV/LV) - Electrical and/or Mechanical to support the 24/7 operations of the Bank while working within the banks SSoW.
Fulfil the role of Senior Authorised Person (SAP), along with co-ordinating the AP familiarisation plan and recommending technicians for AE approval.
Complete all allocated annual training and performance objectives.
Act as a Health & Safety ambassador across all areas of the properties engaged in delivering your role and to support the safe working environment of others.
Ensure all assigned work is completed in accordance with agreed methods, risk assessments, SLAs and customer service standards.
Contribute to encouraging embedding a strong team working and continuous improvement environment.
Participate in the weekly On-Call technical support rota to support incident response across all (x3) sites.
As directed conduct incident management and recovery exercises across engineering systems.
Minimum Criteria:
Minimum City & Guilds Level 4 (or transferable) within a relevant engineering subject
IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
Security Vetting to SC Clearance - will be provided by the Bank.
Experience operating and maintaining of HVAC; BMS; Electrical; Public Health and Life Safety Systems.
Essential Criteria:
Demonstrable Authorised Person experience at HV and LV system operation.
Experience of operating with a defined Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) set of procedures.
Knowledge of statutory and compliance obligations relevant to engineering systems.
Ability to develop, absorb and follow prescribed Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures (SOP's & EOP's)
Ability to read and understand complicated mechanical, electrical, control and public health drawings.
Ability to understand the inter-dependencies across building services and the risks of delivering maintenance within operational buildings.
Excellent communicator both verbal and written form.
Ability to make judgments based on evaluating information against defined procedures, contributing to decision-making and continuous improvement.
Ability to receive and convey regular information, including sharing and reporting information.
Work collaboratively to leverage the knowledge, skills and experiences of the team.
Strong commitment to working flexibly and effectively with a range of staff and contractors.
Maintains high standards in all work undertaken.
Prioritisation/Time Management with an ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.

Previous experience in working in a critical engineering environment with heavy involvement with projects

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
This role offers a base salary of
43,100 - 48,700
per annum plus additional flexible cash benefits as detailed below will help to supplement the cash salary: Flexible benefits package of 8% (

if on upper salary) of base salary. This can be taken as cash or used to buy from a range of benefits including up to 12 days additional leave, gym memberships, private health insurance for partner/family and much more Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
