, we're looking for a compassionate, committed Team Leader to join our Tottenham service--supporting young people aged 10-17 with emotional and behavioural needs. This is a meaningful opportunity to lead by example, shape daily care, and support a team dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment.
About the Role
As Team Leader, you'll take the reins during your shifts--guiding the team, overseeing care delivery, and ensuring a calm, structured home environment. You'll combine strong leadership with trauma-informed practice, supporting both young people and your colleagues through thoughtful, proactive care.
Key Responsibilities
Focused Support for Young People
Monitor, review, and update Placement Plans and Risk Assessments
Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent Keywork
Encourage participation in routines, learning, and community engagement
Support contact with families and care planning
Apply trauma-informed approaches to promote emotional wellbeing
Leadership and Team Guidance
Lead approximately 3-4 shifts each week
Deliver clear handovers and delegate tasks effectively
Mentor and supervise Support Workers and agency staff
Foster a team culture rooted in values, reflection, and accountability
Safeguarding and Behaviour Monitoring
Respond professionally to disclosures or incidents
Lead debriefs following challenging situations
Identify and address safeguarding risks (CSE, absconding, bullying)
Maintain up-to-date records of behavioural incidents and concerns
Compliance and Organisation
Ensure thorough, accurate documentation (logs, hygiene, medication)
Audit keywork, incident reports, and shift paperwork
Manage petty cash, safety checks, and household supplies
Maintain a clean, structured and well-run environment
Communication and Reporting
Take part in team planning and regular meetings
Share key updates with senior leaders and external professionals
Clearly communicate young people's needs and progress
Team Development and Learning
Complete mandatory training and refreshers
Promote best practice through informal learning and reflection
Support colleagues to engage with care plans and policies
Operational Duties
Coordinate external appointments and daily logistics
Support planning for birthdays, activities, and meaningful routines
Help maintain smooth and consistent running of the home
What We're Looking For
Minimum 2 years' experience in residential childcare or similar
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
Confident leadership and excellent communication skills
Calm, child-centred, and resilient approach to care
Solid understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
Full UK driving licence preferred
