The Powder Coating Line Manager leads and manages the operation of the company's state-of-the-art powder coating line, ensuring world-class surface finishing and assembly of premium painted products. The role is responsible for production planning, team leadership, quality excellence, and optimising the performance of one of the most advanced coating systems in the sector. Their work directly underpins the brand's reputation for exceptional, luxury-grade finishes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Powder Coating Line Leadership Lead the full coating line operation, covering preparation, pre-treatment, powder application, curing, and inspection, thermal break assembly, surface protection and packing.
Ensure the line delivers consistent, luxury-grade profiles and ancillaries in line with company standards.
Oversee the technical parameters of the pretreatment coating weights and etch rates. Powder coating application, ensuring optimum oven curing, spray patterns, powder flow, and line speed. Joining of profile sections ensuring the assemblies are meeting the requirements of the manufacturing process. Protective tape application in line with specifications and drawings. Packaging of assembled profiles and ancillaries ready for dispatch.
2. Production Planning & Scheduling Plan and coordinate daily and weekly schedules for the powder coating plant . Allocate labour, equipment, and materials to meet output and quality targets. Manage sequencing and batching to optimise colour changeovers, line efficiency, and product flow.
3. Quality Excellence & Compliance Own the quality performance of the entire powder coating process. Ensure compliance with internal and external finishing standards, Qualicoat or equivalent. Lead root cause investigations on rejections, introducing corrective and preventive actions. Maintain the highest levels of finish consistency, durability, and appearance expected for a luxury product range.
4. Technical Oversight of a High-Specification Coating Line Monitor and optimise parameters including pre-treatment chemistry, booth settings, powder density, electrostatic charge, curing temperatures, film thickness, and transfer efficiency. Work with Engineering and Maintenance teams to implement upgrades, calibrations, and technical improvements.
5. Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Own KPIs for: oFirst-time yield o Surface finish quality metrics o Scrap and rework rates o Line throughput and utilisation o Material use efficiency o Drive continuous improvement projects across process capability, changeover time, energy efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
6. People Leadership & Development Manage, coach, and develop the powder coating team. Lead recruitment, performance reviews, and ongoing training. Build specialist operator capability for maintaining ultra-high-quality coating performance.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination o Liaise with production, planning, logistics, engineering, R&D, and quality teams to ensure seamless operational flow. o Represent the powder coating line in operational meetings, presenting performance updates and improvement actions.
