Job Description

Hydro is one of the main suppliers of aluminium extrusions committed to delivering high finish products to the automotive and engineering industries within the UK and European markets. We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join our fast paced manufacturing site in Bedwas, Caerphilly.

Role Purpose:



Manage the efficient and cost-effective running of a Production Team, ensuring the safety of Team employees, protecting against environmental impact and securing the quality of its products and services that will meet or exceed the customer's expectations.

Lead shift activities and achieve departmental goals through focusing on and promoting a team-based culture. Assist Quality actions and continuous improvement, inclusive of 8D and root cause analysis methodology. Ensure production targets are met achieving right first time and delivered on time and in full. Adhere to production plan, escalating any deviations to your Area Manager and/or Supply Chain Manager. Key metrics (KPIs) to include but not limited to: plan adherence, on time delivery, lost time activities, production efficiencies, right first time. Lead daily level 1 meetings and deliver effective communication to the team, including the upkeep of the daily management boards and escalating any concerns to the Area Manager. Host, where applicable, the level 2 meeting for your department. Ensuring TPM schedules are met. Ensure strong working relationships between departments for effective decision making and delivery of standards. Foster an EBS and 6S mentality into the work area with a focus on process improvements. Ensure production related documentation is completed correctly and within a timely manner. Ensure team members complete IFEs and WOCs as per targets. Comply and support IATF16949 and ISO9001 site requirements. Support all site audits and implement actions where required. In conjunction with Human Resources, as per policy, manage aspects of recruitment, investigations and discipline, RTW, performance appraisal, Skills / Competence matrix and setting of goals & objectives for direct reports. Ensure production outputs are met, Right First Time and Plan Adherence achieved throughout your area responsibility. Foster a "Profitability" and continuous improvement mindset amongst the team. Assist/participate in Induction programmes for new starters, including training plans. Take part in annual appraisal and ensure appraisals completed for staff in a timely manner and to a good standard. Ensure absence management procedure is followed and activities completed with support from HR. Ensure new starters and agency workers are welcomed into the plant, and they receive adequate training and are supported throughout this process. Identify training requirements of the team, carry out training and sign off completed training

Experience:



5 years working in a Manufacturing environment - Manufacturing background essential. Previous experience of managing and motivating a team within a production environment preferred. A demonstrated ability as a leader, with developing skills and an ability to work effectively with staff in a range of functions and at all levels within the business. In depth understanding of department processes. Experience in continuous improvement, problem solving and change management in an industrial environment.

Qualifications:



IOSH Safely certification advantageous. Good level of MS office and IT competence, including MS Office programs. Previous experience in SAP (or equivalent ERP system) would be advantageous. Good English skills both orally and written. ILM qualifications or equivalent would be advantageous.
