Overview

As part of the UK Logistics team, the Shipping Department plays a key role in the timely processing of shipments in and out of the site. The team aims to provide a first-class customer service to both internal and external customers. The roles is vital to organisational success, ensuring smooth logistical flow which directly impacts business revenue.

Main Accountabilities
Manage all aspects of export and import shipments, including booking freight, arranging transport and tracking shipments, coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers and customs brokers to ensure smooth and timely delivery.
The identification and compliance with ADR/IMDG & IATA regulations for the movement of hazardous materials.
Prepare and process all necessary customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists and export/import declarations.
Reviewing customs declarations to ensure they are strictly compliant with customs requirements, logging discrepancies and then requesting/chasing of entry amendments.
Build effective and professional relationships that promote the organisation's image and reputation.
Obtain and compare freight quotes to ensure cost-effective shipping solutions. Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Process and verify freight invoices.
Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal departments, providing timely and accurate updates on shipment status and any potential delays.
Essential Experience
Proven experience in export and import shipping coordination
knowledge of HM Revenue and Customs procedures an advantage though full training given
Computer literate, skills in MS office and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Excellent administration skills and an ability to multi-task
Can do approach and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communicational skills
Team player with an ability to work independently
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
