Job Purpose:




The role of the Shipping Supervisor is to provide oversight, daily management & maintaining Quality & Safety compliance of the Shipping Team through delegation of tasks, effective training & strong people management. The Shipping Supervisor is the first point of contact for the Shipping Associates when addressing escalations from Associates ensuring shipments meet Client expectations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Day to day management of all activities which fall under the remit of Import & Export including but not limited to: Imports, Exports, Amendments, T1s, Airport Driver Management, etc. Monitor direct reports performance ensuring they are meeting the standards expected of them and support is given where required. Foster a culture of open, effective & mature communication within the Shipping Team, with Internal Customers such as Customer Services, warehouse & Transport & Suppliers. People Management of direct reports which includes absence management, hiring of new staff, managing timecards, behaviour within the workplace & personal development of reports Confirm that the shipment is OK to Send to final destination and obtain MAWB consignment instructions. Achieve & maintain Maestro compliance through ensuring route legs, tender to airline, SDDs, retrieval from airlines, route legs and notes are completed on time in full. Continually review shipments to identify the most efficient routes to meet Client expectations whilst managing Marken costs to positively impact Marken's EBITA Obtain a booking with the airline and consign the MAWB as instructed. Support Business Development & Customer Services to obtain routes, rates & transport options for future tenders and heavy weight shipments as and when required. Send the Pre-Alert through Maestro before sending shipments. Maintain department compliance through timely execution of Quality investigations, CAPAs, Audit Findings and ensuring direct reports have zero overdue ZenQMS training/ items. Actively promote a strong induction for new starters by ensuring their ZenQMS, Kronos, ADP & IT equipment is all setup prior to starting. Maestro access is gained within 5 days of joining Marken and take an active role in ensuring they receive full training, guidance and continued coaching to meet the requirements of department. Continued personal development of existing & new employees through cross training of employees within the department and other areas such as but not limited to Dangerous Goods, Brokerage, Health & Safety, Microsoft packages, job shadowing etc. Conduct one 2 ones with direct reports at a minimum of once very 2 months, one 2 ones to be documented between Supervisors & Associates and used to discuss, problem solve and drive improved communication on topics such as: Personal Development, Behaviour, Quality & Maestro compliance, Absence management and help needed. Deputise for the Shipping Manager as and when required. Any other duties on an ad hoc basis

Requirements



Experience with imports recovery and domestic transfers. Experience with serving as a liaise with customs brokers to pre alert imports and follow up on clearance status. Air freight/Freight forwarding experience. Responsible for scanning, packaging, labelling In-bound shipments before tendering for final destination, either domestic or international shipping. Ensure that all route legs are complete with all needed operational details and costs estimates entered in Maestro. Good customer orientation. Ability to Guide and delegate. Great organization skills. Ability to set goals for improvement and development. Good knowledge of IATA regulations, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods (if applicable). Requires specific skills and knowledge in the use and application of proprietary software, Internet and MS Office applications. Good problem-solving skills are required in identifying and alerting others to operational problems. Excellent communication skills. Both written and verbal are required to convey and clarify routine information. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Good organization and time management skills. High cooperativeness. Attention to detail.
