RETAIL SUPERVISOR VACANCY - WOODLANDS ANIMAL SANCTUARY COMMUNITY HUB, SKELMERSDALE

16 hours per week in Skelm, with holiday cover and potential for more hours in our shops in Chorley and Ormskirk.

Join our team and make a real difference! We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Retail Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations of our Woodlands Animal Sanctuary Community Hub in Skelmersdale.

This role is perfect for someone passionate about retail and animal welfare, with great organisational and people skills.

Role Overview: As Retail Supervisor, you will work closely with the Hub Manager and the wider Woodlands team to ensure the smooth running of the retail space, helping to generate vital income for the sanctuary.

You'll supervise volunteers, support merchandising and sales strategies, and maintain a warm, welcoming environment for our community of supporters. The position is for 16 hours per week over 2 days between Tuesday - Saturday, working alternate weekends. Along with holiday cover at other locations and the potential to do hours in our other shops.

Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the daily operations of the Community Hub's retail area, ensuring it runs efficiently and professionally. - Support volunteer rotas, helping allocate daily tasks and providing hands-on guidance.

Deliver excellent customer service and represent the charity with warmth and enthusiasm.

Support visual merchandising, pricing, and stock rotation to maximise shop appeal and revenue.

Maintain high shop standards in cleanliness, presentation, and health & safety compliance.

Assist with receiving, sorting, and preparing donations for sale. - Help promote seasonal campaigns, fundraising events, and other initiatives in the hub. - Support with social media promotion of the shop and its activities.

Process sales accurately, including cash handling and card payments.

Ensure the shop remains a safe, friendly and inclusive space for customers, volunteers, and supporters. Person Specification: Essential:

Previous experience in a retail environment (paid or voluntary).

Confident working with people and supervising small teams.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Proactive, organised, and able to use initiative.

A genuine passion for animals and commitment to our cause.

Desirable:

Experience supervising or supporting volunteers.

Interest in charity retail or community work.

Basic knowledge of visual merchandising or retail promotions.

Confidence using social media for promotion (Facebook, Instagram, etc).
