We're looking for a dedicated and experienced

Shop Manager

to lead our small team, take ownership of the shop's day-to-day running, and help shape the in-store experience. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role alongside the owner, in an independent business that values individuality, creativity, and great customer service.

Your Role

As Shop Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall success and smooth running of the store -- from customer service and sales, to merchandising and team leadership. You'll ensure the shop reflects the distinct Dowse brand and is a welcoming space for both regulars and new customers alike.

Key Responsibilities

People & Team

Lead, motivate and support a small team to deliver an excellent customer experience Support staff development through training, feedback and encouragement Create a positive, respectful and inclusive working environment Manage rotas, daily tasks and team schedules
Customer Experience

Deliver a high standard of personal customer service at all times Ensure the shop is friendly, approachable, and helpful -- a space where all visitors feel welcome Build relationships with local customers and understand their needs and preferences
Shop Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations including opening/closing, cash handling, and daily admin Ensure the store is clean, organised, and beautifully presented at all times Manage inventory levels, deliveries, and stock rotation Maintain high standards of health and safety
Visual Merchandising & Product

Ensure products are well-presented and aligned with the Dowse brand Update shop displays regularly in a creative and engaging way Collaborate on product selection and be confident in understanding our range
Sales & Business Development

Monitor and respond to sales trends, helping to meet and exceed sales targets Work alongside the owner to develop strategies that grow in-store footfall and customer loyalty Support occasional events, pop-ups or community collaborations Create content for social media
What We're Looking For

Previous experience in retail management, ideally in an independent or design-led setting A passion for great customer service and thoughtful retail An eye for visual merchandising and design Strong communication and leadership skills A good awareness of current social media trends and themes. Comfortable working independently and taking initiative Organised, reliable, and confident in using digital tools (e.g. Shopify, EPOS systems, spreadsheets, email) A genuine appreciation and knowledge of contemporary design, craft, and creativity

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 28,000.00-30,000.00 per year
