Shot Blaster

Job Purpose:



The Shot Blaster is responsible for operating the shot blaster to clean, smooth, or etch the surface of our trailers in preparation for paint.

Key Responsibilities:



Machine Operation

: Operate shot blasting machine to prepare metal surfaces by spraying abrasive materials under pressure.

Preparation

: Load and unload items into shot blasting shed, ensuring the proper setup for each job.

Monitoring

: Continuously monitor machine operation, ensuring abrasive media levels are adequate and checking for machine malfunctions.

Quality Control

: Inspect finished surfaces to ensure they meet company and industry standards for cleanliness, texture, and finish.

Safety Compliance

: Adhere to safety procedures and ensure that all safety equipment is used correctly to avoid accidents or damage.

Maintenance

: Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of the shot blasting equipment, including inspecting and replacing worn-out parts as needed.

Record Keeping

: Maintain records of daily machine use, maintenance activities, and materials used.

Problem-Solving

: Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with the machines, escalating major problems to supervisors or maintenance staff.

Team Collaboration

: Work closely with other operators, supervisors, and production teams to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications:



Experience

: Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, particularly with shot blasting or similar abrasive processes, is preferred.

Preferable Skills

: Strong understanding of shot blasting machinery and abrasive processes. Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Knowledge of safety protocols related to industrial equipment. Ability to read and follow technical manuals and job specifications. Strong attention to detail and quality assurance skills.

Personal Attributes:



Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting, and handling heavy materials). Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team. Proactive, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:



Full-time position with the possibility of overtime based on production demands. Work may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, and other environmental factors; personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. The role may require standing for extended periods and lifting materials or parts.
