The Opportunity



KAEFER Limited is currently seeking experienced Shrink Wrap Operatives to join a dedicated and close-knit team working at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project, one of the UK's largest and most important infrastructure developments.

As part of our surface protection and access services, this role focuses on the application of industrial shrink wrap systems to scaffold structures, both internally and externally, ensuring full encapsulation for environmental protection and specialist activities such as paint spraying and grit blasting.

Key Responsibilities



Encapsulation & Installation

Perform full industrial shrink wrap of internal and external scaffold structures. Apply tensioned shrink wrap for weatherproofing, paint spray containment, grit blast protection, and dust/debris control . Use hot air tools or heat guns to securely seal film, ensuring tight conformity and no gaps .

Inspection & Quality Assurance

Conduct visual and scheduled inspections of wrapped areas to verify integrity and compliance with project and safety standards. Identify and report defects, using corrective methods to maintain standards.

Safety & Environmental Control

Adhere closely to PPE requirements, fire safety protocols during heat application, and all site HSE rules . Support environmental containment protocols--preventing escape of debris, contaminants or hazardous materials .

Maintenance & Equipment Care

Maintain and carry out basic service on shrink wrap materials and heat tools. Log usage and report malfunctions. Ensure equipment is cleaned, stored correctly, and maintained to minimise downtime.

Operational Coordination & Communication

Work collaboratively with scaffolders, supervisors, painters, and blast teams to align on sequencing and access. Participate in toolbox talks, daily briefings, and hazard awareness meetings.

Training & Compliance

Complete site-specific inductions and nuclear site training (e.g., nuclear traffic, radiological awareness). Stay current with shrink wrap methods, health and safety practices, and industry best practices .

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate wrap logs, shift reports, and safety checklists. Log material usage, waste disposal, and any incident or near-miss observations.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience



Desirable

Previous experience on nuclear or major energy/infrastructure projects (Hinkley Point C experience advantageous). Formal shrink wrap or scaffold containment training/certification. Basic understanding of scaffold systems and erection methodology.

Requirements of role:



Proven experience in industrial shrink wrapping, preferably in construction, scaffold, or energy projects.

Comfortable working at height and in variable outdoor conditions.

Valid CITB HSE Operatives Test or CCNSG (Can be completed upon clearance)

Full BPSS Security Clearance (HPC Specific)

10 & 4 Shift Pattern

Sound knowledge of HSE standards, scaffold containment, and environmental regulations.

Effective teamwork, strong communication, and time management skills.
