We're looking for a motivated and reliable Shunter Driver to join our Production team and Plant team at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, playing a vital role in keeping our yard operations and trailer movements safe and efficient.

What you'll be doing

Safely shunting trailers between company sites, customer premises, and third-party yards. Managing yard operations with our Plant team, including trailer clearance, rotation, and positioning to support collections and incoming deliveries. Conducting daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting any defects promptly. Ensuring safe coupling, uncoupling, and movement of trailers across different yard environments. Adhering to DVSA and EU Drivers' Hours Regulations, including tachograph procedures where applicable. Supporting operational efficiency by coordinating trailer availability with the Production team. Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle's policies and procedures. Completing other reasonable tasks as required to support the smooth running of the yard and production operations.

Who we're looking for

Valid HGV Class 1 Driving Licence. Up-to-date Driver CPC qualification. Previous experience in shunting or yard driving is desirable. Strong understanding of safe trailer manoeuvring, coupling, and uncoupling. Awareness of transport health & safety regulations. Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing operational demands. Reliable, proactive, and safety-conscious with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Other Requirements:

Eligible to work and live in the UK. Flexibility to travel to different sites as required. Able to pass and maintain medical clearance for driving.

What you'll get in return

Competitive salary depending on experience. Hours of work are typically 07:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. However, some flexibility may be required, including occasional weekend work, usually on Saturday mornings. 22 days holiday plus bank/public holidays.
