Job Description

This is a full-time post for up to one year and is suitable for a trainee (core medical trainee to specialist training) intent on pursuing a medical career. The incumbent must have finished their foundation jobs. They must be working towards or have been awarded their MRCP and have a demonstrable interest in medical education.



The clinical tutor would work under the educational leadership of Dr Sujoy Banerjee, and on-site support will be provided by Dr Susan Tucker, Care of the Elderly Physician.



The clinical tutor should make the following contributions to undergraduate teaching:



Supporting Specialty Attachments (year 3 & 4)



Leading bedside-based teaching for students.



Contributing to tutorials during the placement.



Supporting students with mini-Cex assessments and sign offs of learning outcomes.



Encouraging the development of examination and clinical reasoning skills.



Promoting principles of prescribing and psychopharmacology.



Providing opportunities for students to practice clinical skills.



Supporting students in difficulty.



LOCS (Learning Opportunities in a Clinical Setting)



Providing opportunities for 1st and 2nd year students



Assessment (where possible given the teaching requirements of the programme)



To assist in question writing, emendation and standard setting of undergraduate medical exams (knowledge and clinical)



To train as an examiner for OSCE examinations



Completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Medical Education



Swansea Bay University Health Board is responsible for the health of around 390,000 people across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.
