Job Title: Simulation System Technical Lead

Salary: Circa 60,000 dependent skills and experiences plus bonus scheme



Put yourself into a dynamic software focussed Principal Systems Engineering role at the forefront of real world demands in the Defence industry. You will be a technical lead for our MIMESIS simulation product, which provides a battlespace simulation of the Maritime world, supporting naval training, and enabling customers to test and experiment with novel concepts and capabilities such as AI and autonomy, accelerating programmes and reducing operational risk.


The Simulation System Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping the future capabilities for the MIMESIS product, applying the principles of Systems Engineering across the entire engineering development lifecycle, including the design and development of software intensive simulation systems and complex integration of bespoke software and COTS platforms.


As a Systems Technical Lead within the MIMESIS team, you will lead the design and development of new modules and content for the product, working closely with the Product Delivery Lead, System Design Authority to support the delivery of leading-edge simulation capabilities to support those who serve and protect us.



What you'll be doing:


Provide hands-on technical leadership with a team of systems and software engineers, and directly support the product System Design Authority Apply the principles of Systems Engineering to develop software-based Simulation Systems across the full engineering lifecycle Undertake Simulation Systems equipment design, network design and software design Lead requirement decomposition and manage specifications using tools like IBM DOORS Next Direct architectural modelling and interface definitions in tools such as CATIA Magic (Cameo) Drive system integration and define acceptance strategies for software-based systems Lead technical reviews and ensure compliance with customer, legislative & business requirements

Your skills and experiences:


Demonstrable experience of the application of Systems Engineering for software based products Expertise in Systems Engineering and Software integration lifecycle principles (ISO 15288 and 12207) Strong background in requirements management (e.g., IBM DOORS Next - desirable) Familiarity with engineering lifecycle models (Waterfall & Agile) and tools (e.g. JIRA) Background in software development and integration Technical leadership and ability to guide teams across disciplines Prior experience of any modelling or simulation development would be advantageous

The MIMESIS Product Team:



MIMESIS provides a battlespace simulation of the maritime world; from terrain and seabed to weather and underwater acoustics, accurately modelling the movement and behavior of ships, submarines and other platforms, and digitally replicating their unique capabilities (sonars, radars, weapons). Our product supports naval training, enables customers to experiment with novel concepts or capabilities, and allows design teams to conduct test and integration of new platform systems and capability upgrades, reducing operational risk.
