Single Point Diamond Turning Technician / Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT) Technician/Engineer to operate and maintain precision diamond turning equipment used in the fabrication of high-performance optical components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ultra-precision machining, metrology, and materials such as infrared crystals, metals, and polymers.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate SPDT machines (e.g., Precitech, Moore Nanotech, or equivalent) to produce ultra-precision optical components.
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine machining strategies.
Set up and calibrate equipment, tools, and fixtures for optimal performance.
Monitor the machining process, inspect parts, and make real-time adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
Perform in-process and post-process metrology using profilometers, interferometers, and other high-precision measurement tools.
Maintain cleanroom protocols and high standards of cleanliness and contamination control.
Collaborate with optical engineers, quality assurance, and production teams on process development and continuous improvement.
Document machining processes, deviations, and recommended changes for quality control and knowledge transfer.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of diamond turning machines.
Required Qualifications:
Experience operating and programming CNC machinery Lathes
Strong understanding of material properties and behavior during precision cutting.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
Experience with metrology equipment.
Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Quakification in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field.

Familiarity with CNC programming and controller systems (
AS9100 environments.
Work Environment:
Clean area
Requires use of microscopes, measurement instruments, and computer interfaces.
May involve standing for extended periods and lifting small equipment/tools.
