This post is based in the Acute Dialysis Unit in Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be working within a 6 stations Acute unit, which provides care for dialysis patients who are currently inpatient.
Able to assess and plan care of the patient at each session and know how to escalate and direct any problems to the appropriate team
Expected to work opposite the senior sister to provide senior cover at all time.
Will be beneficial if the post holder has knowledge and experience of taking charge of the service

An ability to rationalise resource requirements in the interest of patient management.
Will be required to supervise qualified and unqualified staff on a day-to-day basis as directed by the Senior Nurse
Has a responsibility for ensuring cost effective staff utilisation in line with the workload requirements.
The post holder is expected to provide support for Senior Registered Nurse, Hospital Management and other health care professionals, providing support and leadership for junior staff
dialyse acute ill patients
coordinate a shift
be charge of the service in the absence of the senior sister
support the junior staff
work with the MDT team ( renal consultant, renal registrar, the renal ward, the home therapy service, others wards, the St Luke's Dialysis Unit, Skipton Dialysis Unit and other services)
Assist the renal team ( consultant, registrar and vascular access nurse) with procedures like vascular access insertion and removal.

support the senior sister with the health roster and ensure there is a skill mix of staff for a safe delivery of patients' care.
Participate and attend clinical and organisational meeting in the absence of the senior nurse.

The appointed candidate will have to support the unit manager with doing audit, able to do a safe health roster with the correct skill mix. Also the appointed candidate must be able to work opposite the unit manager for a safe and effective leadership cover of the service.
The unit manager and the appointed candidate must be able to support and cover each other when annual leave is taken.
The appointed candidate will be expected to work closely with the unit manager.
