Job Description

This is a pivotal role within the Suffolk Highways Construction Team. You'll support the delivery of key planned works as part of a long-term contract with Suffolk County Council. This position offers the chance to make a real impact on local infrastructure, ensuring safer, more effective roads for residents, businesses, and all road users.
The main duties of the Construction Site Agent are:
Manage and supervise schemes on-site to ensure that work is carried out safely, on time, within budget and to required HSEQ standards.
Organise labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources efficiently.
Liaise with stakeholders including network managers, local authorities, designers, and community groups.
Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place before starting on site.
Ensure that in-house and subcontractor site personnel are competent and fully trained.
Take responsibility for the commercial performance of projects in collaboration with commercial teams.
Maintain accurate site records including diaries, works activity logs, resource allocations, and as-built information.
Support Scheme Delivery Managers in developing construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements.
Work closely with key supply chain partners to ensure collaborative and efficient delivery.
Contribute to Early Contractor Involvement, buildability reviews, and traffic management planning.
Participate in Value Management and Value Engineering processes.
Ensure full compliance with all processes, procedures, reporting, and performance requirements.
The Construction Site Agent will have key experience in:
Holding SMSTS or IOSH, along with a valid CSCS card.
Having an HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering (desirable, not essential).
Delivering highways or civil infrastructure projects safely and effectively.
Managing resources and costs within project budgets.
Demonstrating innovative thinking and continuous improvement.
Communicating clearly and professionally with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Holding a clean, full UK driving licence.
