The Role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and security of the school grounds and buildings, including tasks like litter removal, minor repairs, security checks, moving furniture, setting up for events, and ensuring the overall upkeep of the school site, under the supervision of the Site Manager. The ideal candidate will enjoy being active, work well in a team or autonomously, be prepared to be flexible, versatile and have a keen eye for high standards. To have a proactive approach to keeping the buildings and grounds in excellent condition. A friendly demeanour is essential.
The Candidate
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to ensure the smooth day-to-day running, safety, and maintenance of our school site.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily site operations including security, unlocking/locking, and porterage
Reactive and planned maintenance, minor repairs, and decorating
Health & safety checks and compliance reporting
Liaising with contractors, cleaning staff, and external users of the site
Grounds and facilities upkeep, including litter control and equipment maintenance
Supporting school events and external bookings (occasional evening/weekend work)
Overseeing school minibus checks and site stock/inventory
First aid and customer support (training provided)
You'll need good communication skills, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to keeping our school safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. Basic maintenance knowledge and awareness of health and safety practices are essential.
