To assist in the day-to-day operations of the hazardous waste treatment and transfer station. To provide Chemistry specific support to the hazardous waste business line and the NORM decontamination line. All the time ensuring company compliance with all statutory legislation, the operation's licences, permits and hazardous waste enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection, Sampling and Acceptance of waste loads into Greenbank Crescent.
Bulking up and consolidating incoming loads ensuring complete records of traceability are kept onsite working to SGN 5.06
Operation and routine maintenance of plant equipment and site vehicles including forklift trucks.
Safe and efficient loading and unloading of HGV's on site as required including bulk tankers for loading and discharge.
To be involved with storage, transfer and treatment of NORM waste operations carried out at Greenbank Crescent in safe and compliant manner.
Process job packs and associated paperwork as required in a timely manner.
Completion of waste transfer paperwork for outgoing and incoming waste.
Ensuring good waste storage procedures are followed on site in line with HSG 71
Out of hours sampling, lab testing and packing waste at 3rd party customer sites and Augean sites as required.
Communicating effectively with other chemists and staff at other transfer stations allowing free flow of any relevant information between sites and TT staff.
Preparing outgoing loads for disposal in a timely manner.
Ensuring Laboratory equipment is kept in good order.
General lab work testing site samples
Proactively support and embed a generative safety culture
To review and monitor waste compliance data and provide technical input on the resolution of compliance issues
To keep abreast of regulatory developments and Environment Agency guidance and how they may affect the company's operations
To be involved with the storage, transfer and treatment of NORM waste operations carried out at Greenbank Crescent in a safe and compliant manner.
To act as a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) when required, and by official appointment by Augean
To contribute to the presentation and promotion of Augean services
Undertaking specific tasks as per business requirements
Maintaining continuous professional development and competence for the role
Any other reasonable duties as and when required.
Critical Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Degree/HNC/HND in Chemistry or related subject
A good standard of Maths and the English language
You must be a self-motivated, conscientious individual with an analytical mind and methodical approach to work in a sales-focused team
At least two years' experience in waste or environmental management industry - Beneficial
General working knowledge of hazardous waste assessment to comply with IPPC and WM3 regulations - Beneficial
Working knowledge of environmental legislation - Beneficial
Excellent communication skills
Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel
Full UK Driving Licence - Beneficial.
Forklift Certificate of Basic Training. - Beneficial
