The Opportunity
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a proactive and skilled
Site Bakery Engineer
to support our bakery and production operations. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical maintenance, ensuring our equipment runs safely and efficiently.
Hours:
3 on / 3 off rotating shifts (days and nights) 12-hour shifts: 7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am Average 40.25 hours per week
Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work on-call and provide cover for planned and unplanned absences within the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned maintenance and support continuous improvement
Respond to breakdowns and perform reactive repairs
Diagnose faults and deliver high-quality repairs
Ensure safe and reliable operation of all equipment
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
Manage parts inventory and coordinate supply orders
Perform general site repairs (plumbing, painting, fitting)
Mentor apprentices and assist in their development
Work closely with the engineering manager and other departments
Take part in relevant training and development activities
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in mechanical/electrical engineering (industrial or ex-Naval backgrounds welcome)
Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HND or equivalent)
Apprentice trained
Skills & Desirable Attributes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Forklift truck license (preferred)
Basic food hygiene certificate (desired)
Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Self-motivated with ability to work independently
Flexible and reliable, on-call cover may be required
