We have successfully contributed to the Built Heritage of Ireland, with the delivery of Iconic buildings such as the City Hall in Belfast, the Slieve Donard Hotel in County Down and Arnotts Department store in Dublin. Our contribution to Iconic sites has continued in recent times with the ongoing Development of the famous Kings Hall site in Belfast.
Role Overview
As a Site Engineer you will be required to work effectively as part of the H&J Martin Construction team and to work collaboratively with all other stakeholders, including clients, statutory authorities, subcontractors and other internal departments.
What you'll do
Some of your main duties will include:
Site Activities
Setting out activities from commencement to completion, including but not limited to frameworks, groundworks, drainage, and beams
Assist in planning, supervising and inspecting of temporary works, ensuring safety and compliance
Accurately interpreting construction drawings and specifications, and taking ownership in the implementation of Engineering Controls
Maintenance of all business engineering assets, including dumpy and laser levels, and Total stations.
Identify potential risks and defects early, ensuring these are escalated appropriately in a timely manner
Utilise technology and systems effectively, to enhance delivery of our projects and achieve goals
Support with project handover and client walk throughs at projection completion
Where required, support with reporting and presenting on progress and costs
Involvement in ordering, monitoring and recording of materials, inventory, tools and plant
Health & Safety and Compliance
Implement and ensure compliance with Health & Safety Regulations, monitoring and recording health and safety activities as required
Contribute to preparation and organisation of the programme for work, including resource allocation, permits, risk assessments and method statements
Lead in the implementation of and monitor Quality Assurance and ensure compliance by the site team and subcontractors.
Communication and Collaboration
Liaise with clients, internal departments, subcontractors and other key stakeholders to ensure the project develops in line with plans and timeframes, with no compromise in quality and delivery
Manage site teams and subcontractors, ensuring written and verbal communication or instructions are clear and understood
Carryout informal coaching conversations and toolbox talks where required and provide clear handovers, limiting interruptions to operations
General
Support with inducting and mentoring new and junior team members

What you'll bring
Essential Criteria:
Foundation Degree level or Higher, in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
3 years' experience in a similar role
Confident in the use of IT, including construction related software such as AutoCAD
Proficient in the use of all relevant surveying equipment, such as Total Stations
Full Valid Driving License, that permits driving in the UK/Ireland
Understanding of and ability to implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of supervising/mentoring engineering teams
CSR/CSCS Qualification or equivalent
Qualified First Aider
Qualified or working towards Temporary Works Coordinator qualification
Qualified or working towards Appointed Person qualification

- willing to adapt to meet requirements of the project, and have a flexible approach to travel and working hours where required
