Job Description

We are looking to recruit an Engineer to achieve better maintainability, reliability, and availability of infrastructure, buildings and equipment whilst complying with legal requirements.

Main responsibilities:



Flexibility



Will be expected to work in different sites and roles from time to time to support with Holiday and sickness cover, reactive maintenance, projects and planned maintenance. React when resources are unavailable to ensure equipment is available and maintained correctly, this must include reacting to health and safety issues outside of normal working hours. React if there is a problem during breaks & lunch (reschedule break/lunch). Stay after normal hours if contractors are working on site or there is a problem.

Reporting & Communication



Work as a valued team member of the site management team. Communicate clearly and professionally with all stakeholders. Report all breakdowns to the UK Engineer Manager every morning. Provide a monthly written report to the Deputy Engineering Manager on the first working day of the month, to include: All unplanned maintenance times/issues. Health and safety issues/incidents. Monthly maintenance spends. Ongoing project work taking place at site. Communicate with UK Engineering Manager about: Any problems which cannot be resolved in one day. Attend Site management meetings (when required). Attend annual management review for the site, compile and present the annual engineering report.

Computerised Maintenance Management System

Communicate with the Site Management team on a daily basis about all issues and projects.

Ensure your site complies with the Bodycote Computerised Maintenance Management System. Carry out all planned & predictive maintenance tasks on time & accurately. Log all non-conformances, faults & errors into the Computerised Maintenance Management System.

Training and Competency



Advise areas where you require training. Attending training.

Review



Review the Computerised Maintenance Management System records on a monthly basis. Review & control all engineering permit systems for the site on a monthly basis.

Health and safety



Ensure engineering on site complies with Bodycote Health & Safety procedures. Ensure statutory requirements & inspections are carried out and any remedial actions are logged on the Computerised Maintenance Management System so they can be actioned. Report any violation to Bodycote health & safety procedures including deviation from permit systems. Carry out risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements when required. Follow the site permit systems. Ensure others follow the site permit systems. Report opportunities for improvement, near misses and incidents.

Holidays and Cover



Ensure all holiday are approved by the UK Engineering Manager and Site Manager. Ensure engineering cover is maintained on site at all times, including holidays and periods of absence (where reasonably practicable). Attend call outs, as part of a rota but with flexibility depending on manpower, sickness & holidays, once approved to do so.

Purchasing, Critical Spare and Stock Control



Ensure critical spares are maintained in good order & repaired promptly (Site Manager's discretion when repairing spare equipment but concerns must be reported to UK Engineering Manager). Ensure stock levels are maintained on site (Site Manager has discretion when components are ordered but critical spares must be kept, issues must be reported to UK Engineering Manager). Ensure purchase orders are in place before anything is ordered. Ensure stock control is maintained and accurate on the CMMS.

Miscellaneous



This position is a hands on role and requires the engineer to carry out physical maintenance of equipment. Ensure all contractors working for you: Have up to date Public & Personal Liability insurance Use the correct PPE for the site & task Are aware of Bodycote site-specific health & safety procedures Follow Bodycote permit systems Have method statements and risk assessments for their work, and approve by SHE managers Remove from site any contractor who does not follow the above Ensure expenses for yourself and your staff are authorised by UK Engineering Manager or above. Project manage projects, sometimes on different sites. Carry out disciplinary investigations at other sites.

Qualifications, experience and skills:



Electrical qualification is essential together with mechanical aptitude. Flexibility to working hours to react to breakdowns/contractor supervision etc. City & Guilds/BTEC Qualification in Engineering or similar. Self-motivated and driven Positive attitude Willingness to learn Excellent communication skills The ability to work on your own and with others, an enthusiastic team player Good computer skills and able to use common software packages competently Tidy and organised Good problem solving abilities and physical skills like movement, coordination and dexterity Thorough and pay attention to detail, hardworking, trust worthy and honest Work well with others An interest in repairing mechanical electrical equipment Experience in a technical field advantageous
