Job Description

Basic Function:

To effectively run the engineering needs of the GPI business. To focus on all aspects of engineering in order to minimise unplanned downtime, improve production efficiencies and reduce cost to the business.

Nature and Scope:

The rolecovers engineering for the site and will include plant equipment as well as building repairs. The position holder is expected to develop the engineering function of existing plant and contribute to assessing all future investments. Maintenance expenditure to be controlled within defined limits. The position will involve attending engineering breakdowns outside normal hours.

Relationships:

Internal: All. External: GPI Safety Coordinators, Consumable suppliers, Servicing Machinery Suppliers and Contractors.

Principal Accountabilities:

To prepare and execute planned maintenance schedules for plant and site

Control engineering stocks & storage

To ensure that maintenance tasks are completed in the most efficient manner

To attend promptly and effective repair in the case of breakdown

Work within the defined engineering expenditure budget endeavouring to reduce costs

To enlist support of external contractors and/or equipment

To take an active involvement in the specification, procurement and commissioning of new plant and equipment

Assist in meeting HH&S objectives

Provide "out of hours" engineering cover 50% of available time

This list is not exhaustive but represents the main responsibilities of the role. In addition the job- holder would be expected to undertake any other task which could be reasonably expected within the remit described.

Experience and Competencies

Mechanical qualification. A basic knowledge of Electrics. An understanding of the process and the services required to ensure efficient operation. Demonstrate leadership qualities when dealing with Contractors. Computer literacy and report writing skills. Effective communication. Ability to prioritise work, plan ahead and progress numerous tasks to a tight deadline.

Pay: 40,000.00-45,000.00 per year
