Job Summary


The 'Site Engineer' reports directly to the Operations Manager for the effective running of the Engineering Department. To lead the team to deliver best in class with flexible working to ensure optimum performance in accordance with business objectives and strategic plans. The 'Site Engineer' is expected to develop their own personal skills and capabilities through on-going training in line with company policies. All the above is to be completed whilst maintaining a safe, clean workplace without risk to health, safety, the environment, quality or compromising required production levels.

Responsibilities



Responsibility for their own, team members and others, working in their department, actions regarding health, safety, compliance and environment. Investigate and report any accidents/incidents/near misses and take remedial actions as required. Conduct pre-shift safety checks as required. Identify, report, and rectify any machine defects/problems. Issue of the appropriate Work Permits when necessary. Inform all personnel when maintenance is being carried out within the department, whilst adhering to H&S requirements (inclusive of Lock Out Tag Out). Driving of forklift trucks internally and externally, if applicable, ensuring that safe driving and adherence to SSOW is always followed and that daily checks to the trucks are completed and documented. Oversee the effective maintenance, installation and removal of all site machinery and relevant facilities. Proactively looking for improvements for the department to increase efficiency. Maintenance of the site's environment both internally and externally regarding housekeeping and security. Has a 'hands on' pro-active position, take an active part in all activities within the department as the need arises. Ensure the skills of engineering department is consistent with the needs of the business. Controlling of procurement and liaising with external providers/contractors. Purchasing of machinery and engineering consumables. Regular and clear communication with senior management and key personnel.

Requirements



Experience of working within a manufacturing or recycling environment. Ability to work both, as an individually and as part of a team is essential. Must be a quick learner and have a willingness to learn new skills. Mechanical/Engineering/Hydraulic/Electrical knowledge and experience is required. Repairing, servicing and conducting preventative maintenance on forklift trucks, Baling equipment and Shredders. Experience of H&S responsibilities. The ability to work unsupervised and be able to use own initiative. The ability to form good working relationships at all levels. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the H&S at Work Act 1974. Environmental awareness. The ability to handle multiple priorities to ensure deadlines/objectives are met. Be able to work 'on-call' hours in line with business requirements. Is an effective leader, decision maker, people manager and team player.
